What kind of address?
Using a domain not listed above means pointing its MX records at our server and publishing SPF and DKIM. We will send you exactly what to add.
How should we protect your stored mail?
Your mail is stored on our servers unencrypted. Search is fast, we can reset your password if you forget it, and your Junk folder helps train the spam filter. As with major providers (like Gmail and Microsoft 365), you're trusting us to not read it.
Your stored mail is encrypted, and password resets and spam training work as with Standard. To keep search fast, we also keep an index of the words in your mail, and that index is not encrypted.
Only your password unlocks your stored mail, and we never know it. If you forget it, your mail is gone for good, with no reset. We keep no search index, so searching your mail is slower. Mail is still filtered as it arrives, and sender, subject and date remain visible to us.
  • If you forget your password, your mail is gone. Nobody here can reset it or recover it: the key that unlocks your mail is protected by the password itself, and we never have it.
  • Changing your password is safe while you still know the current one.
  • What it protects: the messages stored on our disks and in our backups. Nobody with access to the server's files can read their contents.
  • What it does not protect: mail as it arrives (our spam filter reads it before it is stored), and each message's sender, subject and date, which stay readable in the mail index.
  • Your Junk folder does not train our spam filter.
